Midstream Project Director

Pinnacle Midstream is seeking an experienced Project Director to join our workforce in Houston, Texas. This position provides senior leadership within Engineering and Operations team and is primarily engaged in management activities with responsibility for successful completion of a suite of projects. Expertise and experience in wellhead natural gas gathering compression and processing is required. The position will make decisions in areas of project execution that will positively impact the organization and its employees, customers, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices and compliance programs.

 

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Holds overall accountability for all projects' schedule, budget, quality, and technical performance
  • Supervise Project Managers and work with the Project Controls Manager to present regular reports on status of projects
  • Directly manage the Main Automation Contractor
  • Coordinate, deploy and prioritize resources across projects in order to manage schedule, cost and risks
  • Make strategic and tactical decisions based on the needs of individual projects
  • Maintain the efficiency of important aspects of the project such as design, engineering, planning, project controls and budget
  • Provide and environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including the delivery of timely performance feedback
  • Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across all projects
  • Analyze situations; identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; set priorities and meet critical time deadlines
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and design/construction standards
  • Adhere to and support Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies

 

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Accredited four (4) year engineering degree
  • Ten (10) to twenty (20) years of work-related experience
  • Demonstration of successful performances as project manager on a minimum of two (2) medium to large sized gas gathering and processing projects
  • Specific, detailed technical and project knowledge related to gas gathering, compressions and processing 
  • Able to travel to West Texas up to 25% of the time

  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, customers, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province and federal/national statues and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Jobsite experience and understanding of construction safety program
  • Good knowledge of and experience with project design, engineering, procurement, material management, construction, commissioning, start up, turn over work processes, sequencing, and interfaces
  • Project Controls and Accounting knowledge, including and detailed understanding of:
    • Scheduling (including manpower loading)
    • Progress measurement
    • Risk assessment and management
    • Code of accounts
    • Change management
    • Cost controls
    • Estimating process and planning
  • General understanding of contract law and when to engage legal
  • Regulatory requirements including permitting
  • Experience of multiple commercial executions structures including Lump Sum/Reimbursable/Guaranteed Maximum price (Gmax)
  • Proactive - goal oriented with the initiative to influence events positively
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and to be comfortable in complex projects or business environments
  • Ability to set and maintain high standards of self-performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks
  • Demonstration of innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgement
  • Ability to influence a group of diverse individuals, each with their own goals, needs, and perspectives, to work together effectively for the good of a project
  • Basic computer and software skills to include the use or word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentations
  • Certification in project management suggested, for example, Project/Program Management Professional (PMP or PgMP)
